Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Systems Engineering

  • Thought leader to drive next-generation display technology and development, partner with Product Management and customers to translate product needs, use cases, and OEM requirements into comprehensive technical requirements and system specifications.
  • Own the display system architecture, driving the allocation of functions and requirements across hardware, software, mechanical, and test disciplines.
  • Define and lead the design verification and validation (V&V) campaign, ensuring alignment with ISO 26262 work products and ASIL-appropriate test coverage.
  • Establish and maintain full requirements traceability from top-level system requirements through functional safety requirements to validation test results.
  • Perform hazard analysis and risk assessment (HARA) for display system items and define safety goals and ASIL classifications.

Project Execution

  • Set the technical vision, technology roadmap, and execution plan for the Display Systems product line, aligned with Product Management and customer commitments.
  • Lead the cross-functional project team across the entire product development lifecycle, from concept through production release, ensuring design-for-manufacturing readiness.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to refine and prioritize feature development, balancing technical debt, safety compliance, and delivery timelines.
  • Drive adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards and product cost targets in partnership with Program Managers, proactively identifying and mitigating technical risks.
  • Utilize essential metrics that drive the team to deterministic delivery.
  • Create and implement recovery plans to maintain project delivery timelines and resolve top issues.

Functional Safety

  • As we build a path to delivering future generation products, lead the implementation of ISO 26262 across the display product line, partnering with management to establish functional safety processes, work products, and culture within the engineering organization.
  • Define the technical safety concept (TSC) and functional safety concept (FSC) for display systems, including safe states, fault detection, and diagnostic coverage.
  • Drive the development and execution of safety plans, including hardware and software qualification.
  • Serve as a technical interface to customers on functional safety matters, supporting safety case reviews and OEM audit activities.

Technical Expertise

  • Embedded OS display platform development utilizing partitioned architectures and graphics frameworks (e.g., Qt, Storyboard) for efficient software development and deployment.
  • Embedded microcontroller and microprocessor development for display systems, ARM architecture preferred.
  • Agile methodologies to drive feature development and deployment while maintaining safety process rigor and supporting delivery milestones.
  • Lead design reviews, FMEA/FTA analysis, and technical trade studies that ensure architectural integrity, safety compliance, quality, and maintainability.
  • Manage requirements and technical documentation, ensuring traceability and alignment with business objectives (cost, time-to-market, DfX) and functional safety obligations.

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
