Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Contributes to and fosters a safety-first working environment by adhering to safety protocols and driving continuous improvement around safety, quality, reliability, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence.
- Supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of HED’s Quality Management System (QMS), including internal procedures, work instructions, quality standards, forms, records, and compliance documentation.
- Monitors quality performance indicators, creates and maintains quality metrics, dashboards, and trend analyses, and develops corrective actions when performance falls below established targets.
- Leads investigations of internal nonconformances, customer complaints, supplier quality issues, warranty concerns, return material authorizations (RMAs), and field failures.
- Drives cross functional, root cause analysis activities using structured methodologies including 8D, 5 Why, fishbone analysis, PFMEA, fault tree analysis, and related problem-solving tools.
- Develops, implements, tracks, and verifies corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), including supplier corrective action requests (SCARs), and ensures timely and effective closure.
- Partners with Manufacturing Engineering and Production teams to improve manufacturing process capability, product quality, inspection effectiveness, and production readiness.
- Develops and maintains control plans, inspection plans, process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, quality checklists, and other quality planning documents.
- Supports new product introductions, process changes, qualification testing, and production readiness reviews through quality planning and risk assessment activities.
- Participates in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and provides technical input and provides Quality Engineering authority for disposition recommendations.
- Supports supplier qualification, monitoring, audits, development activities, incoming inspection requirements, supplier quality standards, and supplier risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with Sourcing.
- Serves as a technical resource for customer quality concerns, customer corrective actions, audit responses, quality reports, technical responses, and product performance investigations.
- Partners with Engineering and the Engineering Lab & Test Systems team to review test results, product validation data, failure analysis findings, and test system performance.
- Supports internal audits, supplier audits, customer audits, and certification audits, including corrective action development and effectiveness verification.
- Supports training of employees on quality requirements, procedures, documentation expectations, and best practices.
- Provides technical leadership and influence to cross-functional teams to achieve quality objectives, reduce risk, improve reliability, and strengthen customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum 3–5 years of quality engineering experience in manufacturing, electronics, electromechanical products, or related industries.
- Experience with structured problem-solving methodologies, corrective action systems, supplier quality systems, customer quality requirements, and audit activities.
- Experience in electronics manufacturing environments required, including working knowledge of printed circuit board final assembly (PCBA) process, SMT manufacturing, and electronics defect analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, (test-) specifications, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of statistical analysis and quality tools, including SPC, MSA, process capability studies, statistical sampling plans, and data-driven problem-solving methods.
- Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and process capability analysis.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to influence without direct authority.
- Strong written communication and technical reporting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, ERP systems, and data analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
- ASQ Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt
- Experience with ISO-based quality systems
- Lean Manufacturing Certification
