In this role, you will design, build, and execute tests that validate the functionality, reliability, and safety of electronic components, circuits, and embedded systems. You’ll investigate failures, create automated test solutions, and collaborate closely with cross functional design teams to ensure every product meets the highest standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop Comprehensive Test Strategies: Create and maintain test plans, procedures, and methodologies for component, board, and system-level validation.
  • Design and Develop Test Equipment: Design and build custom test fixtures and automated test equipment (ATE).
  • Test Planning and Execution: Manage the planning, scheduling, and execution of tests to validate manufacturing processes and products.
  • Troubleshooting and Debugging: Investigate hardware, firmware, or assembly failures to determine root causes.
  • Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Production, Procurement, Product Management, and Quality Assurance, to ensure the seamless integration of test solutions.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze test data and generate detailed reports to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test processes, methodologies, and equipment.
  • Compliance: Ensure all test strategies and equipment comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • BS Degree in Engineering, or related Physical Sciences

Experience

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • 5+ years of experience as a Test Engineer or similar role within a manufacturing environment
  • Proficiency employing test automation frameworks/tools, data analysis software, and manufacturing test equipment
  • Experience implementing production test solutions for complex electronics products, including telematics and displays
  • Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA or other automation devices.
  • Familiarity with programming languages including C++ or Python or LabView.
  • Experience with design validation testing for complex electronics products including telematics and displays
  • Proficiency in using lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers) and PCB troubleshooting. Ability to work and lead effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to balance a customer-advocate mentality with HED business needs.
  • Lead through influence with a competitive spirit and strong desire to exceed customer expectations.
  • Results oriented; overcomes resistance and obstacles.
  • Strong need to deliver and meet personal and team commitments. Takes personal accountability for ensuring individual and team commitments are met.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in Quality Assurance or related fields a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment

The position is primarily an office-based position with regular visits to the plant floor. The employee occasionally performs work-related travel.
