Are you a procurement pro with a passion for electronics and materials? We're on the lookout for a highly skilled and motivated Commodity Manager to oversee the sourcing of PCBAs, electronic components, LCDs, and plastic injection molding materials. In this pivotal role, you'll ensure HED secures top-quality materials at unbeatable prices, all while meeting critical deadlines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Commodity Sourcing:

  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies for key commodities.
    • PCBAs, electronic components, LCDs, and plastic injection molding
  • Research, identify, and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors in collaboration with the Procurement Manager and V.P. of Operations.
  • Work with the Procurement Manager to negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to ensure the best value.
  • Manage and monitor supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality standards, delivery timelines, and cost targets.

    Market Analysis and Forecasting:

  • Analyze market trends, pricing fluctuations, tariffs, and geopolitical factors affecting commodity availability and costs.
  • Develop accurate commodity cost forecasts to support budgeting and financial planning.
  • Provide actionable insights to management to mitigate risks related to price volatility.

    Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers and other key stakeholders.
  • Resolve any supplier issues or conflicts and ensure continuous improvement in the supplier base.
  • Coordinate with the Quality team regular supplier audits and assessments.

    Cost Control and Budgeting

  • Monitor commodity procurement spend and drive cost-saving initiatives.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to establish and track procurement goals and targets.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction through efficient sourcing, process improvements, design changes, and bulk purchasing.

    Collaboration and Coordination

  • Work closely with internal teams (business development, production, engineering, finance) to ensure alignment on material needs, cost and inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with our suppliers account managers to ensure on-time delivery of goods.

    Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to sourcing and procurement activities.
  • Manage risks related to commodity shortages, quality issues, and supply chain disruptions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, policies, environmental regulations, and best practices.

Minimum Qualifications

    Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or related field, or equivalent education and experience.

    Experience and/or Training

  • Minimum of 7 years experience in purchasing and use of ERP systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in electronics manufacturing.
  • Comprehensive understanding of integrated supply chain management including principles, methods, and practices related to procurement.
  • Well-developed organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to exercise judgment and make critical decisions.
  • Thorough understanding of how to select and build appropriate supply strategies based on operational needs (current and future).
  • Highly committed team player, flexible, and able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Microsoft literate (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally as required up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications

    Education/Certifications

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management of MBA
  • Professional certifications: APICS, CPIM, CPM, ISM, or ASQ Supply Chain Certifications

    Experience

  • Managing cross-functional teams and complex supply chain challenges
  • ERP system - Syspro

Physical and Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment

Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Infrequent travel to a supplier’s location may be required and may include factory or test environments. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those, an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
