Join our dynamic HED Engineering Leadership Team as the Manager of Program Management. In this pivotal role, you will lead a talented project management team, driving the creation and execution of comprehensive project plans and governance. You will oversee budgets, schedules, milestones, and key decisions, ensuring seamless customer relationships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, develop, and mentor project managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture
  • Develop and roll out processes and toolsets linked to deterministic product development delivery
  • Engineering-wide departmental capacity planning, budgeting, and strategy
  • Promote professional growth and skill development within the team
  • Provide meaningful and actionable performance feedback to team members
  • Lead recruitment activities linked to team growth
  • Full employee life cycle responsibilities (Hire, mentor, coach, appraise, and separation as needed)

Project Execution:

  • Lead across the enterprise to ensure completion of project milestones and deliverables, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Lead cross-functional design teams through New Product Development (NPD), from concept through production launch and sustainment, using HED's phase-gate Product Development Processes
  • Owns the generation of project metrics and project to the product development process
  • Ensures that project and department milestones and goals are met and adhere to approved budgets 
  • Leads regular reporting to upper management on issues, status, and actions for active projects, empowers Project Managers on the team to have command of these elements for their respective projects
  • Chairs the Monthly Executive Project Review
  • Oversee the Change Control Board (CCB) for Engineering Change Notices (ECN)
  • Maintain Engineering Change Notices (ECN) for assigned products
  • Champion for product quality on projects throughout the design process
  • Drive product cost reduction initiatives
  • Provide status updates as required to communicate progress internal and customer stakeholders
  • As necessary, travel to support product development reviews with customers
  • Participate/Contribute and suggest product cost reduction initiatives
  • As necessary, travel to meet with customer’s at their site for project work.

Minimum Qualifications

    Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in physical sciences or business, Engineering degree strongly preferred

    Experience and/or Training

  • 10 years of project management experience, PMP certification preferred
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects to Quality, Cost, and Delivery targets
  • Managing, allocating, and balancing resources of multiple development projects at an enterprise level
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and servant leadership skills
  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Experience following and applying both Waterfall and Agile Software Project Management
  • Experience leading projects within an Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) framework
  • Experience leading projects with a significant Software Development component 
  • Experience using Software Development Planning and Project Management tools such as DevOps, Jira, Microsoft Project or similar
  • Proven employee development and performance management skills
  • Ability to balance a customer-advocate mentality with HED business strategy, resulting in positive outcomes
  • Leads with a competitive spirit and strong desire to win and grow the business
  • A strategic mindset coupled with a willingness to dig into the details and jump in to guide and drive the team forward
  • Data driven – uses facts and supporting data to measure status and drive change and make decisions as needed
  • A strong need to deliver – takes personal accountability for ensuring individual and team commitments are met

Physical and Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds while moving files or small packages. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Working Environment

Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Infrequent travel to a customer’s location may be required and may include factory or test environments.
