Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, develop, and mentor project managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture
  • Provide meaningful and actionable performance feedback to team members
  • Promote professional growth and skill development within the team
  • Develop and roll out processes and toolsets linked to deterministic product development delivery
  • Lead recruitment activities linked to team growth
  • Full employee life cycle responsibilities (Hire, mentor, coach, appraise, and separation as needed for hardware development team)
  • Engineering-wide departmental capacity planning, budeting, and strategy

Project Execution:

  • Owns generation of project metrics and project adherance to the product development process.
  • Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adheres to approved budgets.  
  • Liaison to upper management through the Decision Gate Committee (DGC) on investment projects
  • Assist Application Engineers through System Development Process (SDP) projects with customers.
  • Lead cross functional design teams through New Product Development (NPD) from concept into production using HED's phase-gate NPD process and Agile software development process.
  • Support production and sustaining engineering efforts for assigned products.
  • Lead and manage engineering resources during projects to ensure completion of milestones and project deliverables including product and project costs, customer prototypes, requirements managemnt, DFMEA, PFMEA, design reviews, design verification, product validation and put-to-production to ensure we deliver high quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Champion for product quality on projects throughout the design process.
  • Consistently apply and mentor others in Project Management best practices. 
  • Provide status updates as required to communicate progress to all stakeholders.
  • Act as liaison between Engineering, Business Development, and the end Customer.
  • Maintain Engineering Change Notices (ECN) for assigned products.
  • Participate/Contribute and suggest product cost reduction initiatives.
  • As necessary, travel to meet with customer’s at their site for project work.

Minimum Qualifications

    Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Project Management

    Experience and/or Training

  • Minimum of 10 years as a project manager on medium to large scale technical projects, PMP certification strongly preferrred
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • Experience following/applying both Waterfall and Agile Software Project Management
  • Experience with APQP or other NPD process
  • Experience leading/managing software development projects 
  • Experience with SW Development and Project Management tools such as DevOps, Jira, Microsoft Project or similar, and other MS Office products
  • Requires demonstrated ability to lead and participate in cross-functional teams
  • Must have proven ability to manage projects to Quality, Cost, and Delivery targets
  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and servant leadership skills
  • Managing, allocating, and balancing resources of mulitple development projects
  • Employe development and performance management skills
  • Ability to work and lead effectively iin a team environment
  • Ability to balance a customer-advocate mentality with HED business strategy, resulting in positive outcomes
  • Leads with a competitive spirit and strong desire to win and grow the business
  • Strategic mindset coupled with a willingness to dig into the details and jump in where needed at a tactical level

Physical and Mental Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and/or hear, and/or use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, and/or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds while moving files or small packages. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Working Environment

Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Infrequent travel to a customer’s location may be required and may include factory or test environments.
